Hello. Here we are again. The end of another year. It may have seen like a slow one for LKWRM on the outside but we've gotten quite a lot done, especially in that "have to write new songs" department. The mini-album is still on - expect a release in the spring of 2008. We're sorry it's taken so long but we know you'll think it's worth the wait. There's also the possibility that the album will be (re)mastered by quite a legendary person, but that's just a possibility at the moment. We've got one slice of LKWRM news; a very tasty slice actually. Last week, we finally finished our version of Pale Saints' "Throwing Back The Apple". It was recorded specifically for London's finest club and label, Club AC30, who will include it on the third volume of the "Never Lose That Feeling" compilation. As you might know, these excellent compilations feature new and old people who stare at their shoes and play the music of other people who now are old and used to stare at their shoes. Go here to order the second volume. We love it. You will too. Just the idea to end the album with a former Drop Nineteens singer doing a Ride song followed by the former Adorable singer covering one of Drop Nineteens greatest moments is reason enough to paypal Robin, Nick & Co right away. Anyways - watch out for our Pale Saints cover and the mini-album in 2008. We'll keep you posted on both matters. Bye for now. Sayonara. Auf wiedersehen. Suckpipes!

Hello all. Just checking in for a winter update on what we’re currently up to, and what makes us tick (or not tick). We are, after all, LKWRM and we are hot. The current news on ‘It Really Tied The Room Together’ is that we’re still putting the finishing touches on the album art. As you may have noticed, LKWRM isn’t a band that rushes things. We take our time, but when we do act, and the stars are aligned, we deliver the finest melodic noise around (yes, we are the post-rock equivalent of Zlatan Ibrahimovic). In the States, the mini-album will come out on This Generation Tapes, as previously reported. Regarding new material, there are several new songs in the making. Paul recently delivered two wonderful new tunes for us; one slower post-rocky tune (we always preferred “Rambo”, you know), and one more up-tempo and driven pop song that’s somewhat like those early Lush epics. We avoid chorus pedals, though. There’s another new song that explores the boundaries of guitar minimalism and overlapping time signatures. As you may have noticed from earlier form experiments like “T.H.M.J” and “Licorice”, we are quite fond of the American minimalism of Terry Riley and Steve Reich, and there’s more to come from us in that department in the future. Speaking of “Licorice”, we’ve just put it up on our Myspace site, along with “Mogwai fear Lukewarm”. You may remember that they came out some six years ago on Clairecords’ “Several Bands Galore” compilations. Putting them up on Myspace is our way of giving you all an out of print treat and Rupert Murdoch a kick in the ass. If somebody needs a kick in the ass, it’s Rupert Murdoch. How can someone invest so much money in a website and it still breaks down just by looking at it? It’s ridiculous. By the way, we actually gave Stuart in Mogwai a copy of “Mogwai fear Lukewarm” a couple of years ago. He’s a lovely little fella. Well, that’s about it for now. We’re going to do a lot of recording in December, so we’ll let you know how that went early next year. There might just be a stand-alone EP released next year, before the full-length album.

The summer is now in full bloom, and while everybody’s enjoying the weather and going on vacations, LKWRM is a hard-workin’ group. Our live set is shaping up well at band practice. We’ve focused most of our attention on “Liam”, the first song on our forthcoming “It Really Tied The Room Together” album. We’ve played it live before but it somehow got pushed aside in favor of other songs. Now, however, is the time for the song to make it back into our set. At seven minutes, and going through all kinds of moods, sounds and transitions, “Liam” is in a way a showcase of how varied a noise LKWRM can be making. We’ve also begun rehearsing ”We’re Looking For Treasure”, a short instrumental recorded on the same day as ”Bastard Summer”, the latter an old live favorite that most certainly will be released on the full length album following “It Really Tied The Room Together”. “We're Looking For Treasure” is a slow and quiet guitar piece with a surprisingly mood-shifting ending. We like it very much and you will like it even more. Recording-wise, we’re basically sorting out the release of the mini-album, and once that is taken care of, we’ll begin finishing the full-length album, containing all new material. A few of these songs have been played live before, but most of them not. The songs come in different shapes and forms, but all share that characteristic LKWRM guitar sound. In other words, you’re in for a real treat next year. Until then, we’ll keep you updated on what’s going on in our little corner of the world.

For most of 2006, we've focused all our hearts, ears and wise heads on re-recording and mixing our mini-CD 'It Really Tied The Room Together'. We finished it about a month ago, and the master has been sent to Jon's This Generation Tapes label in L.A. We feel that it's quite an improvement on the original recordings; especially the drums and bass guitar. The vocals are a bit louder in the mix, and we've sorted out all the minor quirks in the mixes. Hopefully you'll like them as much as we do! All that's left is sorting out the artwork and fun stuff like that.

We have finished our cover version of Pale Saints 'Throwing Back the Apple' for the 3rd 'Never Lose That Feeling' compilation from the fabulous London based club and record label Club AC 30. Release date is not set yet but our own guesses is sometime after this summer. We know you will love it!
[2005-10-17]
Small update. We're close to mixing and mastering of our Mini-CD which will be a compilation of most of the songs from our first two EPs. We want to give you same-same-but-different instead of same-same-and-same for this release so we have been updating the sounds on most of the songs. That means no plain reissue. The title will be *drumroll*... 'It really tied the room together'.
[2005-06-10]
Hi folks! The creative output from LKWRM is increasing. Steep. So, we're gonna release a MCD on This Generation Tapes in the big U.S. of A propably in August. It will be followed by an album in the autumn. I even dare to say it will be cool. Very cool. The new material is filling our harddisks with both pain and pleasure but that's more commonly known as a creative process. Ok. More info soon.
[2005-02-03]
Sorry for not updating the news lately. But...we're busy recording a full length album and things are working out very well. In a few months time we'll hopefully have a 50+ minutes full master to make some sweet silver plates for your listening pleasure. B.t.w. if you want us to come to play at a place near you, mail us some contact information to your local venues and we'll see what we can come up with. Cheers!

We have now added the latest track called 'Dupont & Dupont'. You'll find it on the listen page! Download it and go for 6 point 29 minutes of snailish music. Drones, drones and more drones. And a bit of horror movies thrown in too. Don't ever try to reverse the song to get the message. Maybe you won't rise from your bed again... or once more feel the taste of tooth paste in your mouth... Maybe you won't.... Think about it! |
